Hi. My name is Jenn and I live in South Florida with my wonderful husband Wes, adorable son Nathaniel and pain in the butt dog Lylah. I have a great family and just need somewhere to keep track of it all. Enjoy.

Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
It has been a big week around here. Nathaniel started school on Monday! He will be going twice a week for now so he can acclimate to a more social environment. I think it will be great for him, once he becomes more comfortable.

His first day was Monday and it certainly wasn’t easy. He didn’t want Wes and I to leave and we had to have the teacher practically pry him out of our hands. He cried when we left but was headed to the playground. On our way out of the parking lot we were peering around the corner and could see him standing in the playground talking with the teacher. He wasn’t crying so we took that as a good sign. We were both off on Monday so we picked him up at 12 to give him a light day to start. He was obviously still upset but not crying when we picked him up. He was really happy to see us and we took him to lunch at Chick-fil-A and also got him ice cream for being a good boy.

This morning I was on my own to drop him off. We knew it would be tough and I was really dreading being the one to have to drop him off. When we got in the car he asked me where we were going. I didn’t want to lie to him so I told him all about how we were going to school to see his teacher and new friends. I tried to make it as exciting as possible. He wasn’t buying it. He cried the entire way there and asked me not to leave. Once again I had to peel him off of me to leave. I feel terrible but I really think he will like it once he realizes we are not leaving him forever. He has some serious attachment issues and doesn’t cope with change too well.
When is your walk? I did the Komen 3day in my mother’s honor and plan to do again next year when I’m done with school & have more time. I’d like to donate, but need a few weeks.
Thank you. The walk is January 28. I remember seeing you mention the 3day before. That is so awesome. This is just a 5k.
Some of you may remember my post last year about the Susan Komen breast cancer walk. I am so excited to say that my mom is flying in and will be walking with us this year. We are so excited to not only have her come down but to have her walk wih us. She kicked breast cancer’s butt and I couldn’t be more proud of her.
If anyone is so inclinded, my donation page is seriously lacking in the donation department, so if you are feeling extra giving and have a few bucks to spare, please donate here.
Thanks!
After we weaned Nathaniel from his pacifier he took to a stuffed dolphin we had picked up at Kohl’s. He really seemed to attach to the dolphin and brought it with him everywhere. He napped with dolphin, carried him around constantly and could hardly stand to be without him.
It didn’t take me long to realize that we should pick up a second, backup dolphin, before the store no longer had them. I stuck the backup dolphin in our closet and just left it there for safe keeping. Not two weeks later I forgot to bring dolphin home from Wes’s parents house. I was halfway home before Nathaniel realized we didn’t have it so I silently cheered myself for my forethought, came home and dug the backup out and he was none the wiser.
We started getting lazy and I never remembered to re-hide the spare dolphin. We had one upstairs and one downstairs and Nathaniel never questioned it. There was just always one where he wanted it, until yesterday morning…

Look mommy…one, TWO dolphin!! His face lit up and he ran around the living room for a good 20 minutes repeating himself; one, TWO dolphin! I knew we were in trouble. Now if you try to get one of them away from him when he isn’t paying attention he will hold one and ask for “more dolphin”. It is adorable but I’m not really sure what to do now. He is fully aware that two exist.
Parenting fail.
I’m so sorry buddy that this post is so overdue. Christmas morning I finally got around to checking the mail while I took Lylah on a walk when we were waiting for the boys to wake up. I was so excited to see a box from my buddy and couldn’t wait to get home and open it up.
My awesome buddy sent me a super sweet homemade card, pj pants, ab adorable hat for Nathaniel, a DVD for Nathaniel, bath soap and lots of candy. As you can see, we all certainly enjoyed the candy. Maybe a bit too much.
Nathaniel was not in a hat wearing mood but we wanted to try it on him anyways. Please don’t mind the demon eyes. He refused to hold still.
Thank you so much buddy! I love everything and can’t wait to find out who you are!
Ugh. I just typed up a nice long recap and it disappeared. Awesome.
The holidays were super busy and between that and my laptop dying I have not been able to blog like I would have liked to. We had a great Christmas although we really missed my parents. I booked a flight for my mom to come down at the end of January for a long weekend and Nathaniel and I are going up in mid-February. I can’t wait to see them.
Nathaniel got a ton of toys for Christmas, including a play kitchen. He loves the kitchen so much and spends a ton of time making pizza and coffee. We can’t pry him aways from it half the time.

We signed Nathaniel up for pre-school and he will be going two days a week. I think the interaction will be great for him and can’t wait for him to start next week. We have been fighting a rash on Nathaniel and have taken him to the doctor for it twice now. The doctors are convinced it is caused by a virus and we just have to wait it out. He is not contagious and it rarely itches him He seems fine other than the random hives that keep popping up. The doctor says that it bothers us more than it bothers him.
Hopefully I get can back to posting more reguarly here soon.

Just did this Height Predictor thing on Baby Center for fun because it popped up in my e-mail. Based off of Nathaniel’s 2 year old stats it is says he will be 6’2” at 18. Man am I going to have my hands full with him.
Nathaniel refused to nap today. He fell asleep on the way home from the dog park, less than a two mile drive. Late naps =late night to come.

I can’t believe my little man is two. The time has just flown by and I feel like if I blink again he will be starting his first day of kindergarten. We opted out of a party this year and instead just spent the morning at the zoo and had a cupcake at home. Nathaniel loved the zoo and seeing all of the animals. He wore himself out.
Monday morning we had his two year well check. He is 25lbs and 36” tall. He is a long and lean little man. The doctor was impressed with his vocabulary and he was a good boy overall for his appointment. He would cry when we had to put him down on the table and kept telling us we were “all done” and that it was time to go. Good try little man, good try. He got two shots, including his flu shot for the season. He is probably going to be starting preschool part time soon and we thought it best to be sure he is as vaccinated as possible. He woke up at 2AM last night with a fever, which we are assuming is from the vaccines. Advil seemed to help it pretty quickly, but he stayed up until 4:45AM. I’m exhausted today, but that’s really nothing new for me.
We are also almost three weeks into being pacifier free. As hard and stressful as the transition was, I am so happy to be free of it. He still asks for it once in a while but we just tell him that we don’t have it and offer something else. There have not been anymore major breakdowns over it.
